Achintya specializes in process metallurgy of iron and steel making and is an expert in process and product technology of Integrated Steel Plants. Before working at Dastur, Dr. Das had technology leadership roles at Tata Steel as a Chief Metallurgist, Chief of Flat Product Technology Group and Chief of Technology for a 6 Mtpa new project. He has also worked with Essar Steel as a Sr. Vice President, Research & Development and Technology for about seven years.

Unruffled in many a difficult situation thanks to his deep experience, Dr. Das is often seen asking clients and younger members of his team thought-provoking questions that help better understand the problems and their possible solutions. He uses his extensive operational experience at steel plants to envision how proposed solutions affect operators and get put into practice.

Achintya is a recipient of many awards and recognition and is a visiting faculty at IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay and NIT Rourkela. He has also initiated a Postgraduate Course in Iron and Steel Technology.
